Topics Challenge: Motivation to Close Learning Gaps

Topics Challenge Motivation to Close Learning Gaps

With educators who are also parents in our team, we understand the anxieties and challenges faced by you in getting your child to revise for PSLE.

In this PSLE journey, many of us could not help worrying if our children have put in enough effort in preparing for PSLE actively.

Although many parents know that their children are weak in certain subject(s), they could not pinpoint their children’s level of mastery in a certain topic or component in a subject.

Other than getting tutors or signing up your child in tuition centres, many of us would not know what else what can be done.

Another mammoth task parents face is to get the child to revise conscientiously on his/her own without them telling him/her to do so.

With these concerns in mind, the team behind OwlSmart has designed an engaging and effective feature in its online revision tools – Topics Challenge.

What it is

In a nutshell, Topic Challenge is a diagnostic tool which determines your child’s competency in a certain topic or component.

How it Works

The questions in the topic challenge are carefully selected according to learning outcomes in the latest PSLE syllabuses.

First of all, the user has to access the Topics Challenge from the course dashboard.

Next, select a topic or component in which he wants to “challenge” himself or find out his level of competency.

He will then attempt the questions which are arranged in increasing level of difficulties (From Easy to Average to Hard) within a stipulated duration of timing.

This will train your child in terms of speed and accuracy to deal with a real examination scenario.

If the child is not able to get a minimum number of questions correct for a level of difficulty, he/she will be “advised” or directed by the system to practise more questions of a similar level of difficulties before he embarks on another quest to ultimately conquer the tough questions in the topic.

Milestone at each level of difficulty is celebrated with encouraging comments to spur your child in conquering the “peak” of each topic challenge.

How it Motivates

Topic challenge provides a supportive, fun and engaging platform to test your child’s level of competency in a topic or component.

With the aim of conquering the “peak” in each topic challenge, your child is engaged to improve in his mastery of a topic and his confidence will be built up over time.

On top of that, just like in playing games, your child will earn reward points as he attempts the questions in Topics Challenge. The reward points can be used to redeem vouchers too.

Conclusion

Topics Challenge is designed to diagnose weaknesses and propose solutions so as to level up your child’s competency in a topic or component.

It motivates your child to close any learning gaps so that he/she can face PSLE with confidence. Without further ado, do sign up a subscription with us and experience it yourself.

All the best in the preparation for PSLE!
