Numerous educational researches have revealed that any extrinsic reward system used in a typical primary classroom to motivate young learners in completing learning activities and accomplishing learning goals, must be perceived as awarding fair and consistent rewards. It is equally important that the rewards vary for different tasks.
In an ongoing effort to encourage and motivate our subscribers to be consistent in their revision efforts, we have launched our very own reward system with OwlSmart Rewards.
Accessing OwlSmart Rewards
OwlSmart Rewards can be accessed via the student dashboard.
On loading OwlSmart Rewards, you would be able to view the list of rewards available.
Earning Reward Points
All our paid subscribers can look forward to redeeming attractive vouchers and discounts with our partner merchants that include Deliveroo, Grab, Decathlon and Lazada*. To start, the user simply logs in to OwlSmart and attempts any question from our Practice, Exam and Topics Challenge categories. The user will earn 1, 2 or 3 Reward Points respectively for every correctly answered Easy, Average or Difficult question*.
Redeeming Rewards
Each student simply accumulates Reward Points in order to unlock and select available Rewards that are available for redemption. After the student has selected a Reward for redemption, an email is sent to the student’s guardian for approval. We have included this step as we recognise the importance of parental or guardian involvement in all stages of their child’s learning journey. The parent or guardian then simply logs into the registered guardian account in order to approve or reject the student’s request to redeem a selected Reward. Upon approval, the reward's voucher code would be emailed to the guardian.
Consistency over Crash Revision
We place emphasis on consistent revision across different subjects rather than putting in excessive screen time on the same subject in a single day. With that in mind, we have put in place a daily cap of 30 Reward Points earned per subject. This will prevent excessive unhealthy screen time in the event that a user decides to earn as many Reward Points as possible.
Conclusion
In conclusion, we hope that the inclusion of OwlSmart Rewards will encourage all students to actively make OwlSmart a daily revision activity and provide a series of short-term goals that they are able to actively work towards to.
*We are partnering with more merchants in the near future. This will be updated on our website.
* Presently, Topics Challenge is unavailable for Chinese.
